Willie Edward Swangin, age 79, of Pine Knot, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Mitchell Bunch and Rev. Andy Crabtree officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 12:00 noon until time for services at the funeral home.
Mr. Swangin was born in Millboro, Kentucky on January 26, 1935, to the late James Riley and Mary Jane (Owens) Swangin. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Maxine Potter Swangin, a daughter Rose Stevens, a son James Swangin, two brothers; Ottis Lee Swangin, Louie Dean Swangin, two sisters; Dorothy Swangin and Geraldine Parker and a half brother; J.B. Taylor.
Surviving family include his wife Lozina (Coffey) Swangin whom he married December 1, 1988, of Pine Knot, a son John David Swangin, Stearns, eight daughters; Lois Ooten of Dayton, Kentucky, Barb Lowe of Stearns, Angie Lloyd, Joann Walden and Louend Wright all of Lafollette, Tennessee, Penny Seigler of Middlesboro, Kentucky, Arizona Swangin and Virginia Swangin both of Pine Knot. He has one sister; Lois Tuscher of Jacksboro, Tennessee, 27 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchildren.
Mr. Swangin had done factory work most of his working career. He enjoyed fishing, raising his dogs, working in his garden and going to flea markets.
