William D. "Bill" King, age 82, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away April 1, 2009, at the McCreary County Health Care Facility.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 5, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Ray Cowan, Bro. Harold Baird and Bro. William Kilby officiating. He will be laid to rest in the T. Chitwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 a" 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. King was born on March 2, 1927 in nelson, Kentucky, to the late Zimra and Thelma Garrett King. He worked as a truck driver and a school bus driver. Bill served his country in the United States Army Air Force. He and his wife Ruby attended the United Church of God in London, Kentucky. He found enjoyment in being outdoors, fishing, hunting and raising a garden.
In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother Edgar King and a granddaughter Keshia Stephens.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Jane Moore King whom he married February 9, 1946, and six children; Billy (and Susie) King of Strunk, Arvil (and Donna) King of Strunk, Paul (and Betty) King of Caledonia, Illinois, Sharon (and Russell) Stephens of Smyrna, Tennessee, Glenn (and Debbie) King of Strunk, and Danny (and Debbie) King of Strunk. Bill and Ruby were blessed with 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren.
Although we have lost a beloved husband, loving father and cherished grandfather, he has gained eternal life with the Lord. The memories we carry in our hearts will become dearer to us as we realize what a true blessing we were given.
