VIRGINIA RUTH WOOD

Virginia Ruth Wood, age 87, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed from this life Monday, October 23, 2017, at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.

She was born on June 24, 1930, in Oneida, Tennessee, to the late Charles and Victoria “Toby” (Stephens) Wright.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Wood.

Surviving family include her daughter, Mary Perkins (husband Dwight) of Revelo, Kentucky, four grandchildren: Russell Perkins of Pine Knot, Jodina Cox (husband Christopher) of Whitley City, Kentucky, Paul Perkins of Litchfield, Minnesota, Ambrina Privett (husband Josh) of Pine Knot, seven great-grandchildren: Nicholas Cox, Addaleigh Cox, Naomi Perkins, Samuel Perkins, Miriam Perkins, Channer Cox and Noah Cox.  She had two great grand dogs whom was dear to her: Reese Lynn Privett and Ember Perkins.

Virginia was a homemaker and member of the Pine Knot United Baptist Church (the white church).  She enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Primitive Quartet.  She loved going to church, picnicking in the park, watching old tv shows, and shopping at thrift stores.  She enjoyed spending time with her loving family and cooking for them.  Her cornbread and biscuits were the best.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 27, 2017, at the Pine Knot United Baptist Church (the white church) at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Doug Sexton and Bro. Stewart Jones officiating.  Burial will be at the Pine Knot Cemetery with committal service by Bro. Dillard Bryant.

Visitation will be Thursday evening from 6 – 9 p.m. at the church.
