Vina Hilda Duncan

Vina Hilda Duncan of Pine Knot, Kentucky died Friday, April 23, 2021 at the age of 94 years. She was born on August 18, 1926 in Marsh Creek Community in McCreary County to the late James Garner and Lottie Jane Kidd. 

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband of 33 years, Roe Odlin Duncan, her only grandson, Ronnie Monroe Duncan, Jr., and her five siblings, George Kidd, Bernice Kidd, Dester Kidd, Edward Kidd, and Laura Stephens. 

Surviving family include her two sons, Ronnie Duncan (and Loretta) of Scott County, Kentucky and James Conley Duncan (And Deb) of Lima, Ohio, her granddaughter, Meghan Obermeyer (and Jason), and her great-grandson, Benjamin Wright, all of Scott County, Kentucky. 

Vina was a special friend to many and enjoyed being a host to friends and family alike. Full of grit and determination, she worked from sun up to sun down tending to her garden, her home on Cal Hill Road, and baking the most delicious banana pudding anyone this side of Heaven has tasted. A life-long member of Sulfur Springs Baptist Church as well as a life-long resident of Pine Knot, Vina outlasted the many changes in McCreary County over the years, calling it her home until the end. 

The Duncan Family wishes to thank Teresa Wethington and her team of caregivers, Glenda, Loretta A., Lori, Maxine, Molly, and Faith Ann for caring for Vina and giving her the dignity and respect due to her, in those last few years. Our family is grateful for all your kind hearts, honor of the human spirit, and respect of family. 

Due to the current COVID regulations, the family chose to have a private burial on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at 10:00 am at the Kidd Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association Bluegrass Chapter, in memoriam of Vina's grandson, Ronnie Monroe Duncan, Jr. 

Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
