On Wednesday, July 3, 2019, Susie Marie Braden went home to be with our Lord at the age of 93.
Marie lived her life preparing for this day, putting God first, she believed everything else would be taken care of.
Marie was born to Roland and Laura (Swain) on March 29, 1926. She was a life-long homemaker, worked 10 years in the hotel industry and in later years she kept herself busy with sewing, quilting, crocheting and various other crafts. She enjoyed going to Horizon Adult Center where she shared her talents and was the 2018 inner beauty pageant winner. She is known for her gentle spirit, kindness, and loving her family and friends. She always saw the best in everybody and often spoke how God has blessed her. We could write a book telling of her good deeds, but this Bible verse sums it up, one she practiced daily: Ephesians 4:32 “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
She was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church. She loved her family and was very proud of each of them. In trials and tribulations that happens in all families, she was the soft spoken voice of reason and fairness that calmed the winds and held us all together.
Marie is the beloved mother to 15 children, 25 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 7 great great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rolland and Laura Kidd, 6 children: Elmer Wendell, Jimmy Craig, Ralph Danny, Timothy Allen, Brenda Mae Braden and Cathryn Sue Hamilton, three grandchildren: Samuel Lee Anderson, Allen Keith Braden and Ricky Allen Braden, brothers and sisters: Claude Kidd, Oliver Kidd, Virgil Kidd, Earnest Kidd, Elmer Kidd, Arnold Kidd, Clarence Kidd, Eva Kidd, Flonnie Kidd, Hazel Kidd
She is survived by nine children: Barbara Rochelle Smith, of Pine Knot, Willie Lethal Braden, Jr. (and Peggy) of Georgetown, Kentucky, Patricia Jean Norman (and Bob) of Oneida, Tennessee, Jerry Ronald Braden (and Teressa) of Winfield, Tennessee, Johnny Rayburn Braden of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Linda Faye King (and Larry) of Smithville, Missouri, Shirley Marie Waters (and Jerry) of Somerset, Kentucky, Marilyn Elaine Houston (and Eddie) of Amelia, Ohio, Sherry Joy Braden (and Clayton Hollingsworth) of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
To all whom she loved and touched deeply, please join us in celebrating her life at Pine Knot Funeral Home on Saturday, July 6, 2019 with visitation at 12:00 noon until 2:30 p.m. with services immediately following at Pine Knot Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at the Bethel Cemetery. Donations can be made in her memory to East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church.
The family would like to invite her friends to dinner provided by the Tabernacle Church following the committal service.
