Stella was married to Sherrill Dean Murphy on April 23, 1963. Sherrill passed away on April 11, 2005.

Survivors include her mother, and a son, Anthony (Tony) Murphy and his wife Sandra of Pine Knot, 2 brothers, Stephenson Gibson and his wife Kay of Muncie, Indiana and Mart Gibson and his wife Joyce of Whitley City, Kentucky, and a sister, Joan Piercy and her husband Arthur of Muncie, Indiana. Stella cared for them as if they were her children.

Stella had been a seamstress most recently for ABC corporation and for several years operated the Corner Cafe in Pine Knot with her husband Sherrill. She was a member for the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the Ladies auxiliary of the American Legion and a member of the Silerville United Baptist Church.

Stella was a loving and unselfish individual who dedicated her life to the happiness and well-being of her family and friends. She was an inspiration to all of us who were blessed to have her in our lives. Because of her we have learned to live life to the fullest, cherish the good instead of dwelling on the bad, look to give without thoughts of receiving, and to give love like there is no tomorrow. Although she has left us to reunite with loved ones she has missed so dearly, she will live forever in the hearts and minds of all she left behind and we will continue to celebrate her life...until we meet again.
