Starling Edward Perry, age 98, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Big South Fork Medical Center in Oneida, Tennessee.
Born in Barren Fork, Kentucky, on April 9, 1926, he was the son of the late Early Virgil and Hattie Becky (Watson) Perry. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Della (King) Perry who passed on May 14, 2019, a son: William Edward Perry, five brothers: Darvin Perry, Carl Dean Perry, Clifford Perry, James Perry, and Arlin Perry, and three sisters: Nora Perry Sumner, Linda Lou Vanover, and Dora Perry.
Surviving children are: Sandra (and Ronald) Lovett, and Lois June Bennett, step-children are Betty Jo Ryan Muse and Michael Ryan. He has one surviving sister: Wanda Fay (and Ray) McCullah of Whitley City, Kentucky. There are six grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a special nephew, Charles Fraley.
Starling was a member of East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God, and had been a truck driver for Maxwell Trucking Company, he drove a school bus for 17 years for McCreary County Schools and owned a trailer park, Perry Mobile Homes. He was a member of the Orie S. Ware Masonic Lodge, Laurel Heights OES, Charles Moore VFW, American Legion Post 115, and the Teamsters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. William Kilby officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until time for services. He will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Cemetery.
