Sonya Renee Ball

Sonya Renee Ball age 48 of Stearns, Kentucky passed from this life on Su, October 29, 2023 at her home.

She was born March 22, 1975 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Rodney Chitwood and Sandra Sue (King) Chitwood.

Surviving family include her husband, Darrell "Dee" Ball II; sons, Seth Ball, Trey Ball (and Amber), and a nephew she loved as her own, Deion Chitwood; a daughter, Shatarah Burress (and Brice) of Stearns, Kentucky; and grandchildren, Jackson Lee Ball, Layla Reece Ball, and Emery June Ball.

Also surviving is a brother, Shannon Chitwood of Pine Knot; sisters, Linda Vickery of Strunk, Rhonda Taylor (and Rick) of Pine Knot, Teresa Roe (and Paul) of Pine Knot, Pam Shoopman (and Jimmy) of Strunk, Rita Chitwood (and Crawford Duncan) of Strunk, Darlene Chitwood (and Jackie) of Winfield, and Stacey Chitwood (and Earl Bryant) of Pine Knot; special sisters, DeDe Bryant, Susan Caudill, Lori Taylor, Kellie King, and Kim Chambers; sister and brother in law, Karen & Charlie Gilreath; and several nieces and nephews that Sonya loved so very much.

Sonya was the familiar face you knew when you went to "The Dairy Bar", having devoted 28 years as a waitress and manager. Many would agree she was the glue that held the crew together for years. When she wasn't there, you would find her working with flowers, crafting, and going to yard sales with her sisters. She also enjoyed taking rides down old country roads listening to the gravels pop under the truck and jeep tires. Sonya will always be remembered for her fun, loving, and prankster personality. Even through her sickness, she continued to make everyone laugh. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In keeping of her wishes, she was cremated. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 12:00 noon until service time. Sonya will be laid to rest in the Pine Knot Cemetery.
