SHANDA J. MARTIN

Ms. Shanda J. (Shonnie) Martin, age 73, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away Friday, April 8, 2011.

Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the Wright Cemetery at Parkers Lake, Kentucky with Rev. William Kilby officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at Pine Knot Funeral Home.

Ms. Martin was born in McCreary County on July 20, 1937, to the late James Logan and Edna Strunk King. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Carl Martin and two sons James Luther and Carl Russell Martin. Surviving family include five daughters Barbara Thomas of Oneida, Tennessee, Sharon Byrd of Oneida, Donna (and Tony) Trammell of Pine Knot, Ida (and Allen) Strunk of Pine Knot, and Debbie (and Jr.) Neal of Pine Knot. There are two sisters Sheila (and Darrell) King of French Lick, Indiana and Sue (and Bristo) Cornett of Pine Knot, and five brothers; James Willis (and Norma) King of Pine Knot, Ralph (and Ruth) King of Cabot, Arkansas, Lindell (and Debbie) King of Pine Knot, Dale (and Carmen) King of Newport News, Virginia, and Ronald (and Pat) King of Pine Knot. Shanda was blessed with 17 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.

She had been a medical technician at Oakwood in Somerset and belonged to the Meadows Baptist Church. "Shonnie" will be missed by all her family and friends, but will always be remembered with great love for the impact she had on them.
