Sarah Wanda Lay

Sarah Wanda Lay, age 74, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born in McCreary County, Kentucky, on March 20, 1943, to the late Earl and Pearl (King) Ball.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Roy Ancil Lay who passed away on July 10, 2000.  The two of them were united in marriage on March 26, 1960, and had three children: Michelle Bell (husband Ronnie) of Pine Knot, Bryan Lay (wife Danielle) of Alameda, California, and Barry Lay of Pine Knot.

Also deceased are four brothers: Denny Wayne Ball, Joseph Kelly Ball, Jimmy Ray Ball and Robert Allen Ball as well as a sister: Ina King.

She has one surviving brother, Earl Edmond Ball (wife Loretta) and two sisters: Phyllis Moore (husband Bill) and Navada Bryant.   Grandchildren and great-grandchildren are:  Greg, Heather, Josh, Justin, Jackson, Jordan, Alaina, Devan, Cherokee, Steven, Eric, Ashley, Hayden, Halle, Harper, Kaitlin, Abel, Cory, Lucas, Riley, Donovan, Colby, Kalee, Vincent, and one on the way: Sirilla.

Sarah had worked for over 20 years for Outdoor Venture Corporation.  She was a member of the Hayes Creek Church of God.  She was a collector of buttons, and sock monkeys.  She enjoyed traveling, reading, socializing and spending time with her family.  She had a host of friends and extended family whom she loved dearly and they loved her.  She will be truly missed.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 30, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Collins officiating.  She will be laid to rest at the Hayes Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday from 12:00 noon until time for services.
