Ruby Irene Shepherd

Ruby Irene Shepherd age 96 of Stearns, Kentucky passed from this life on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at the Huntsville Manor in Huntsville, Tennessee. 

She was born on April 21, 1923 in Fidelity, Kentucky to the late Rev. Joe Gibson and Edna (Jones) Gibson. In addition to her parents, Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Elmer J. Shepherd, a daughter, Judy Lynn Baltimore, brothers, Robert, Porter, Virgil, and Bill Gibson, and sisters, Louise Wagner and Nada Stephens. 

Surviving family include her son, Kenneth Shepherd of Stearns; daughters, Brenda Sue Johnson of Oneida, and Barbara Jean “Bobbie” Miller of Indianapolis, Indiana; sisters, Linda Noe (and Frank) of Sidney, Ohio and Joann Gibson Watson of Whitley City, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Jenny Lynn of Corbin, Kentucky; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

Ruby was a member of the Pleasant Rock United Baptist Church. In past time she enjoyed canning, sewing, and quilting. Ruby also loved animals, especially her dogs. 

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Harmon Taylor and Bro. Wayne Inman officiating. Burial to follow in the Barren Fork Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday after 11:00 am until service time.
