Rodney Luther "Butch" Chitwood of Pine Knot and formerly of Winfield passed away on Monday March 13, 2006 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was 61 years old.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 17, 2006, at 1:00p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Phillip Kazee officiating. He was laid to rest in the Chitwood-Trammell Cemetery in Clay Hill, Tennessee.
Butch was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 29, 1944, son of the late Luther and Bernice Ryan Chitwood. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, Kammie and Kylie Chitwood, and a very special niece, Tiffany Jill Dodson.
Survivors include his children: Linda Vickery and her husband Gary of Revelo, Rhonda Taylor and her husband Rick of Pine Knot, Teresa Roe and her husband Paul of Strunk, Pam Shoopman and her husband Jim of Revelo, Rita Chitwood Duncan of Strunk, Darlene Davis and her husband Jackie of Winfield, Stacy Stephens and her husband Randy of Pine Knot and Sonya Renee Ball and her husband Darrell of Revelo, and Shannon Chitwood. And the mother of all his children, Sandra Sue Chitwood. There are 2 sisters, Marilyn Chitwood Dodson and Diane Chitwood both of Winfield, and 2 brothers, Gary Lee and Tony Chitwood both of Winfield. There are 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren also surviving.
Butch had been a truck driver for D.H. Campbell and Ryder Trucking Companies, and was of the Baptist Faith.
Butch loved the outdoors and adored his children and grandchildren. The lives that he touched here on earth will be measured by the memories dwelling inside the hearts and souls of those who loved him.
Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family of Mr. Butch Chitwood in his funeral arrangements.
