Rodney Belcher, 80, went to his heavenly home early Friday morning, November 12, 2021, at the Indiana University Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was born on January 21, 1941 in Harlan, Kentucky the son of Leonard and Sara (Sizemore) Belcher. He married Brenda (Stacy) Belcher on June 7, 2010 in Virginia and she survives.
Rodney worked for Dayton- Walther Steel for approximately 28 years as a machine operator prior to his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Church of God and at one time had been on the revival circuit preaching and singing. He was also a member of the Steel Workers Union, enjoyed working on cars and being out doors working in his garden. He treasured the times he could spend with this family!
Besides his wife of 11 years, Brenda, he is survived by one son, Ottis Belcher (Jessica), Muncie; one daughter, Angela Johnson (Jeremy); Six grandchildren; Derrick Redman (Cayce), Columbus, IN, Justin Belcher(Morgan), Muncie, Keegan Gerber, Vivea, IN, Zachary Tyler Johnson, Hailee Adkins and Zoie Adkins, all of Muncie; one brother, Wylie Belcher (Berniece), Harlan, KY, one sister, Ilene Huston (Ed) Harlan, Kentucky; sisters-in-law, Toby Wachob (William), Anderson and Jean Seals (Bill), Beaver Creek, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his first Wife Alice, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Arnold and Elmer Belcher and one sister, Lillian Slucher.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday evening, November 18, 2021, 6:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Henry Adkins officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday after 5:00 until service time at Parson Mortuary.
Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Pine Knot Cemetery.
Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family with local arrangements.
