Rita Ann Garner

Rita Ann (Kennedy) Garner age 64 of Stearns, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

She was born December 28, 1959 in Whitley City, Kentucky to the late Otis Kennedy and Beatrice (Helton) Kennedy. 

In addition to her parents, Rita is preceded in death by her sisters, Pam Garland, Sue Jones, Brenda Kennedy, Denise Bowman, Carol Procter, and Debbie Conrad. 

Surviving family include a son, Gary Wayne Kennedy of Edmonton, Kentucky; a daughter, Lori Garner of Somerset, Kentucky; grandchildren, Quinton Heath, Candacey Purvis, Kylie Cordell, Darin Garner, Kenzee Massingale, and Charlie Stigall; and a great-grandchild, Serenity Purvis.  

Also surviving are brothers, John Kennedy (and Alicia) of Somerset, Andy Kennedy (and Vickie) of Whitley City, Mike Kennedy (and Janice) of Whitley City, and Wayne Kennedy of Somerset; and sisters, Janice Bell (and David Ball) of Whitley City, Sharon Schoffner of Whitley City, Shelby Davis of Somerset, Rebecca Phillips (and Marty) of Stearns, and Elaine Tucker of Somerset.

Rita was a homemaker who loved nothing more than caring for her family. She loved to make others smile, laugh, and entertain them. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. 

Cremation was chosen. The family plans to hold a memorial service at a later time.
