REV. MILLARD F. WRIGHT

Reverend Millard F. Wright, age 87, of Pine Knot, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 13, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Whitehead, Bro. Boyd Rowe and Rev. Greg Ryan officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery with committal services by Rev. Jay Constant. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Rev. Wright was born May 30, 1922, in Newcomb, Tennessee, to the late Lewis and Mary (Angel) Wright. Also preceding him in death is his wife Virginia Stephens Wright five brothers Newman, Claude, Dennis, John and Oscar Wright, and five sisters Ruby Murphy, Verdie Nester, WVelma Wright, Alice Wright and Wilda Wright.

Surviving family include a daughter Brenda Moore and husband Travis of Pine Knot and two sons Gary Wright and wife Pat of Arkansas and Morris Wright of Corbin, Kentucky, a brother Willard Wright of Cleveland, Ohio, and two sisters Jewell Musgrove of Pine Knot and Gertrude cotton of Georgia. There are seven grandchildren Tonya, Daphne, Brandon, Vanessa, Samuel, Nakeysha, and Santanna, five great grandchildren Zackery, Andrew, Jordan, Kaylee, Josiah and Timothy.

Rev. Wright was the pastor of the Freewill Baptist Church in Pine Knot, having pastored and assisted there for over thirty years. He had been preaching since 1960 and was an ordained minister of the Mt. Olive Association for about 28 years. He had worked as an exterminator for the National Chemical Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, and was a WWII veteran having served in the United States Army.
