Rev. James Edison Watson

Reverend James “Edison” Watson, widower of Eskie (Roberts) Watson, age 89 years, 7 months and 12 days, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, October 1, 2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.

Edison retired from Lewis G Freeman & Company, where he worked as a machinist. After moving to Kentucky, Edison started his own business cutting and delivering firewood. He concluded his career working at Kroger where he loved meeting and talking to new people. He retired as pastor of Jellico Creek Church of God of the Mountain Assembly after 29 years of dedicated service. He loved the Lord and his church and served the elderly of the church well. After retiring as paster, he joined Revelo Church of God where he enjoyed the fellowship of his church family whom he cherished and loved dearly.
Edison enjoyed being active, taking care of his chickens, multiple beautiful gardens and mowing his own lawn.
He was born February 19, 1932 in Co-op, Kentucky, Edison is preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Eskie Lee Watson, daughter; Shirley Ann Baker, grandson; Larry Matthew Watson and siblings; Kellie Watson, Jr., Edward Lee Watson, Edith Pennington, June Kay Ross and Jimmy Watson.
Survivors include his son; Larry Watson and wife Gloria, daughter; Glenna Gregory and husband Mike, and daughter; Stella Watson, grandchildren; Ronnie Allen, Candy, Chrissy, Brandon (Holly), Tony (Kayla), Christy, Daniel, Larry Dale and Jordan, siblings; Reba McCoy, Edgar Watson and Goldie Massengale. along with a host of great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren,
He will be truly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Funeral services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 at 12:00 pm in the chapel of Revelo Church of God, with visitation in the Pine Knot Funeral Home chapel on Thrusday from 6 pm – 9 pm with Brother Leslie Gilreath and Brother Mike Gregory officiating. Burial will be in the Watson Cemetery.
