Rev. Alvis Privett, of Mine 18 Road in Revelo, passed away on Monday October 19, 2009 at his home with his family by his side. Bro. Privett was 71 years old.
Funeral services will be on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 2pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Willis Troxell and Rev. Harold Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5-9pm at Pine Knot Funeral Home.
He was born at Round Top on September 14, 1938, son of the late Ancil and Clara Garland Privett. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Privett.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Nancy Watson Privett, and 2 sons, Jeffery Privett and his wife Carolyn of Revelo, and Jerry Privett and his wife Katrina of Strunk. Two daughters, Katrina Massengale and her husband David of Chatsworth, Georgia, Kim Vaughn of Stearns and her Fiance Mike Montgomery of Danville,KY.
He has 2 brothers, Hurstle Privett and his wife Cheryl and Ronnie Privett and his wife Joan, both of Strunk, KY, and a sister, Eva Taylor and her husband Lenville of Strunk. Grandchildren are: Joshua and Christopher Privett, Bronnie Vaughn and his wife Lena, Tyler Vaughn and his wife Heather, Benjamin and Breanna Massengale, Michael, Mitchell, Grant, Spencer and Cheyenne Privett, John Allen Wright and Ricky Triplett. Great Grandchildren are: Tyler, Nathan and Devon Goins. Bro. Privett has a very special friend Nona Maxwell. He has many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
Bro. Privett was a member of the Silerville Baptist Church where was ordained as a minister of the gospel, and had served as deacon for many years. He had taught the Junior Sunday School class, was song leader. He was a member of the Order of Kentucky Colonels and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. He had been a teacher for 33 years.
Bro. Privett was an avid gardener and loved making walking canes. He loved to sing for the Lord and loved his church and his family. He was a loving dad and grandfather and cherished his wife Nancy who he was married to for over 50 years. The high light of their lives together was reading the Bible together.
