Ray Merrell Stephens

Ray Merrell Stephens age 76 of the Meadows Grove Community in Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at his home.

He was born October 8, 1945 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Porter Stephens and Maudie (Gilreath) Stephens. In addition to his parents, Ray Merrell is preceded in death by his wife, Fayrene (Hamlin) Stephens; sisters, Edna Vanover, Pernie Ross, Shirley Hicks, Lois Goad, and Joyce Napier; and a sister-in-law, Carol Gilreath.

Surviving family include his sister, Ruth Ball of Pine Knot; a special sister, Velvie Byrd of Florida; brothers-in-law, Ronald Hamlin and wife, Shirley, Dale Hamlin, Dwayne Hamlin and wife, Brenda, and Steve Gilreath all of Pine Knot; sisters-in-law, Nadine Murphy and husband, Dean, Charollette King and husband, Bill, Sandra Neal and husband, Donald, all of Pine Knot; and special friends, Josh Jones and Sue Kelper.

Ray Merrell is also survived by a host of friends, special nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.

In past time, Ray Merrell was a member of the Masonic Lodge #874 of Stearns. He had made a living as a Truck Driver for Hinkle Contracting for many years of his life. On his own time, he enjoyed travelling, yard selling, watching car racing, and helping customers at Big Blue Tire Shop. Ray Merrell will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him, but we must trust that our earthly loss, is his eternal gain.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the King Meadows Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Friday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
