PENNY CARTER

Mrs. Penny L. Carter, age 50, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2008, at St. Mary's Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 28, 2008, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Willis Troxell and Bro. Doug Stephens officiating. Entombment will be in the Lower Hickory Grove in Stearns, Kentucky. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Penny was born on October 20, 1957, in Oneida, Tennessee, the daughter of Loyd "Pete" and Sadie Kidd Cordell. She had worked as a secretary for the McCreary County Schools for many years, was a member of the Lower Hickory Grove Baptist Church and had been a girl scout leader.

Her father Pete Cordell precedes her in death. Surviving family include her mother Sadie Cordell of Pine Knot, her husband Bruce Carter of Strunk, a son Andy Carter and his wife Christy of Strunk, a daughter Danyel Kiser and her husband James of Whitley City, grandchildren Cyndol, and Ceyla Kiser and Andriana and Madilyn Carter. She has a sister Melissa Stanley of Dalton, Georgia and two brothers Eddie Cordell of Revleo, and David Cordell of Bronston.

Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family with funeral arrangements.
