ORA SPRADLIN

Ms. Ora Spradlin, age 88 of Pine Knot, passed away on Thursday September 10, 2009 at McCreary Health and Rehab in Pine Knot.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 1pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. David Troxell officiating. Burial will follow in the Lower Cal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6-9pm.

She was born in Pine Knot on April 4, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Roland Tom and Mary Shipley Hughes. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James Spradlin, a son Rick and a daughter Faye Conatser, as well as a grandson Tommy. 5 brothers, Ray, Junior, Clarence, Estol and Edward Hughes and 2 sisters, Hazel Lay and Evelyn Lay.

Survivors include 4 sons, Harold Spradlin, Jimmy Spradlin and his wife Linda, Roger Spradlin, and Tommy Spradlin all of Pine Knot. 2 daughters, Mary Crabtree and her husband Frank and Maxine King, both of Pine Knot. She has a half brother Roland Hughes and a half sister Missy and there are 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren also surviving.

Ora was a former House Keeper at Green Valley Nursing Home in Indiana. She was of the Baptist faith, and enjoyed reading her Bible and playing games. Even though her earthly presence is no longer, her memory and spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends.
