NINA BAIRD

Ms. Nina Baird, age 85 of Holly Hill, passed away on Monday November 10, 2008 at the Williamsburg Nursing Home in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be Thursday November 13, 2008 at 11am in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby and Bro. Harold Baird officiting. Burial will follow in the T. Chitwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

She was born in Creekmore, Kentucky on November 6, 1923. She was the daughter of the late George and Clema Gilreath Lay. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James, a son Furmon, a brother, Boyd Lay and a great, great grandchild.

Survivors include her daughters, Linda Bryant and her husband Gorman of Whitley City, and Lawanna Chestnut and her husband Fred of Dothan, Alabama. Her grandchildren, Adam C. Bryant, Traci Adkins, Jamie Hamlin, James Furmon Junior, and his wife Amanda, Beth Mills and Bucky Rudesill his wife Tina. Brothers and sisters; Bonnie Jones of Pine Knot, Almereen Tower and her husband Don of New Castle, IN, Delmer Lay and his wife Etta of Holly Hill, and Lowell Lay and his wife Lillian of Cincinnat, OH. There are 2 sisters in law, Lura Neal of Whitley City, and Hilda Lay of Cincinnati, OH. There are 7 great grandchildren and a special great grandson, Cade Adkins, and 7 great great grandchildren

Nina and her husband James owned and operated a grocery store for many years. Nina served as Postmaster at Holly Hill from January 1946 until May of 1984. Nina served her Lord as a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church of God. She enjoyed sewing and cooking as well.
