Mr. Nicholas Melvin Meadows, age 90, of Jellico, Tennessee, formerly of Pine Knot passed away Saturday, December 01, 2012, at the Beech Tree Manor in Jellico.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Neal officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Hayes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:00 noon until funeral service time at 2:00.
Nick was retired from Avon Products in Springdale, Ohio. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II and served his God at the Hayes Creek Church of God. Before going into the Army he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He was born on Osbourn Creek in McCreary County, Kentucky, on August 22, 1922. He is the son of the late George and Savannah (Lay) Meadows. He is also preceded in death by his wife Lizzie Mae (Dople) Meadows, a son Doyle Meadows, three brothers Andrew, Ledford and Raymond Meadows and a sister Dora Webber. Surviving family include his daughters Patty Fox (and James) of New Miami, Ohio and Jennifer Claxton (and Calvin of Pine Knot). There are two surviving sisters, Sally Ball and Mary Ball both of Strunk. Nick had six grandchildren: Marcia Eversole, Linda Mae Flannery, Lexi Ann O'Brien, Mike, Scott and Tye Meadows. There are 21 great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other family to mourn his passing.
