Mildred Ann Slaven age 78 of Whitley City, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at the Signature HealthCare of McCreary.
She was born August 10, 1945 in Blue Diamond, Kentucky to the late Millard Wagers and Gertrude (Wilson) Wagers.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Walter, Frank, Johnny, Ken, and Raleigh Wagers; sisters, Clarissa Fugate, Jean York, Sue Smith, and Sharon Wagers Betsill; and an infant sibling.
Surviving family include her husband, Leland Slaven whom she married, July 18, 1964; sons, Kenneth Wayne Slaven Sr. (and wife, Patty) and Eric Lee Slaven, all of Georgia; a brother, Nick Wagers of Florida; and grandchildren, Hunter, Kenneth Jr., Justin, Aaron, Michael, Madelyn, and Natalie; and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred was a member of the McCreary Church of Christ. She loved caring for her family and being a homemaker. In past time, she enjoyed shopping, sewing, baking, and sitting with the elderly. Mildred also enjoyed crafting Christmas ornaments with her sisters in Georgia, shared laughter during shopping adventures with friends in Whitley City, and making her own clothing. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Freels officiating. Burial will follow in the Silerville Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation after 12:00 noon until service time.
