Matthew Lynn Wilson

Matthew Wilson age 39 of Whitley City, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at his home. 

 

He was born September 9, 1982 in Lexington, Kentucky to James "Jim" Wilson and Leota (Stevens) Wilson. Matthew was of the Baptist faith and was a truck driver for Triple J. Transportation, LLC. He loved trucking, especially 18-wheelers and if he wasn't driving one, he could be found working on one. Matthew also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. 

 

Preceding him in death is his brother, James "Jimmy" Wilson and his grandparents, Joe Lee & Lela Stevens, Lloyd & Elsie Wilson. 

 

Surviving family include his father, Jim Wilson; mother, Leota Wilson (and Oakley Merritt); children, Tanner Wilson, James Arron Wilson, and Samantha Jo Wilson, all of Whitley City, Kentucky; long-time companion, Cassandra Coffey, also of Whitley City; brothers, Walter Lee Wilson (and Kimberly) of Missouri and Jody Lee Wilson (and Sandy) of Strunk, Kentucky; grandmother, Glennis Stevens; a cousin that was more like a sister, Amanda Flaherty; and his special trucking family, (Triple J. Transportation) Owners, Jordon Sumler, Jason Brown, and Joshua & Laura Wesley and their children, Byron, Aleah, and Bryceson, and Supervisor, Chris Boggan. 

 

Also surviving are special nieces and nephews that Matthew loved dearly, Desirae, Aleisha Paige, Katelyn Paige, Mayia Jade, Hayley Faith, Hannah Jo, Chasity, Alisa, Miranda, Tristen, Caleb, Wyatt, Connor, Jackson, Aiden, and Greyson.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, May 13, 2022 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. Burial to follow in the Smith Cemetery of Round Top. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home. 

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with remaining expenses.
