Mary Faye Jewell

Mary Faye Jewell age 66 of Strunk, Kentucky passed from this life on Thursday, Jne 15, 2023 at the UK Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

She was born November 20, 1956 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Stanley Jewell and Opal Mae (Duncan) Taylor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley Jewell, Ira Ivan Neal, an infant brother, Jamie Taylor Neal, and the father of her children, Gary King.

Surviving family include her children, Jamie King Smith of Pine Knot, Ira Shannon Jewell of Strunk, and Gary Ale King of Strunk; a brother, Michael Shawn Neal of Strunk; sisters, Betty Jewell of Strunk and Vada Powell of North Carolina; a brother, Terry Jewell of Cincinnati; and grandchildren, Natalie Rae Smith and Garrett Ranson Smith.

Mary was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and had worked as an aide for the Pine Knot Elementary School. She enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, going yard selling and to goodwill shopping. Mary also loved the water of any sort. She enjoyed swimming and going to the beach. She would have loved to have moved to Florida to live. Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Duncan and Bro. Norman Burke officiating. Burial to follow in the Opal Duncan Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday after 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
