Mr. Marvin C. Duncan, age 77 of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at the St. Mary's Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 15, 2009, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Tommy King officiating. Burial will be in the Ryan Cemetery at Gumfork in Tennessee. Visitation will be Sunday from 6 a" 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marvin was born January 8, 1932, in Scott County Tennessee, to the late Tearl and Ethel Anderson Duncan. Besides his parents, preceding him in death is his wife Betty Maxey Duncan whom he married August 16, 1949. She passed away July 21, 2007. Also preceding him in death are two brothers Thurman and Ortel Duncan, a sister Roberta Ellis and a son-in-law Larry Murray.
Surviving family include two sons Marvin Duncan, Jr. (companion Rhonda) of Strunk, Dexter Duncan (and Rose) of Florence, Kentucky, and three daughters Sandra Murray of Pioneer, Tennessee, Vickey Wood (and Bill) of Covington, Kentucky, Pandora Blankenship (and Gary) of Cincinnati, Ohio. There are 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Marvin had been a maintenance worker for the U.S. Forest Service and a truck driver for Newman & Pemberton Trucking. He was a member of the Gumfork Baptist Church and the Teamsters Local 100 of Sharonville, Ohio. Special appreciation is given to Vickie and Jackie of St. Mary's Hospital for the extra care and attention given to Marvin.
Pine Knot Funeral Home assisted the family of Mr. Marvin Duncan in his funeral arrangements.
