Maedean Sumner, 70 Marshes Siding, Kentucky, entered eternal life on Monday, September 11, 2018, after fighting a brave battle, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 24, 1948 in Jellico Tennessee. She was the only daughter of Leslie and Delca Martin. She had two brothers: Kenneth (Judy) Martin of Helenwood, Tennessee and Eugene Martin (deceased).
Maedean was the loving wife of Gerald Sumner for 49 years. She and Gerald have two daughters Renee (Eric) Haynes, and Amy (Mike) Strunk all of whom reside in Marshes Siding, Kentucky. She had five grandchildren who were the joy of her life. She was their “life cheerleader”, Seth (Brooke) Haynes, Adrionna (Adam) Simpson, Dylan, Ally, and Addy Strunk. She also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
Maedean taught business education classes in the McCreary County School System for 32 years. After retiring she became full time partner and business manager of Sumner Excavating. Her inner beauty, strength, kindness, passion and love has forever impacted many students and could never be forgotten. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Casada. Burial is to follow in the Whitley City Church of God Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday after 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
