Lucille Stephens

Lucille Meadows Stephens, age 81, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed from this life on Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

She was born in McCreary County on May 10, 1937, the daughter of the late Everett and Lillie (Lay) Meadows.  Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Gene Stephens, whom she married December 13, 1956, their daughter, Nola May Stephens, brothers, Curtis and Joe Meadows, two sisters: Loretta Fostino and Nola Hawkins, and a granddaughter, Jessica Stephens.

Surviving family includes two sons: Darrell Stephens (wife Connie) of Whitley City, Kentucky and Wayne Stephens (wife Krista) of Land of Lakes, Florida, two daughters: Patty Matthews (husband Clarence) of Strunk, and Penny Ross (husband Ed) of Rockholds, Kentucky, a brother, Floyd Meadows of Strunk, three sisters: Beverly Wilson of Stearns, Kentucky, Doris Gaertner of Strunk, and Nancy Meadows of Pine Knot.  There are 10 grandchildren: Kellie Stephens King, Mitchell Tucker, Taylor Collins, Michele Tucker, Jessie Matthews, Ethan Stephens, Ashley King, Sherry Shelton, Elizabeth Stephens and Morgan Ross; 14 great grandchildren: Waylon Heath, Ivan Vanover, Easton King, Molly and Mason Tucker, Harper Collins, Knox King, Jaelyn and Trinity Matthews, Miley, Hunter, and Asher King, Makenzie Jones, and Mallorey Foster; and 1 great-great-grandchild, Josiah Jones. 

Lucille loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them and playing with the babies.  She enjoyed talking on the phone with her beloved family and friends and going to church.  She was a member of the Bethel Holiness Church.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 8, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday evening after 6:00 at the funeral home.
