LONNIE EDWARD SMIDDY

Mr. Lonnie Edward Smiddy, age 76, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed from this life on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at the Pioneer Community Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Ed had been a woodworker, having worked for Kentucky Hills for some 14 years.  He was a member of the Classic Tractor Club of America and enjoyed working with lawn mowers.  He loved gardening and coon and squirrel hunting in his younger years and was a friend to everyone.

Born on May 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Jess and Sarah (Moses) Smiddy.  Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a son James R. Smiddy two sisters;  Darlene Ball and Lois (Neal) Stephens, four brothers; Charles, Garrett, Homer and Bill Smiddy.

Surviving family include his wife Jo Ann (McElhaney) Smiddy of Pine Knot whom he married December 3, 1957, and children; Wayne (and Elizabeth) Smiddy of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Stanley Dale (and Memi) Smiddy of Springfield, Ohio, Micheal (and Darlene) Smiddy of Pine Knot, Sandra (and Bryan) Baird of Pine Knot, Barbara (and Charles) Neal of Pine Knot, Lonnie (and Shonda) Smiddy of Pine Knot, Teresa (and Bobby Joe) Stevens of Williamsburg.  Ed an Jo Ann were blessed with 15 grandchildren two special grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews left to carry his memory forever.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home, with Rev. Clay Cook and Bro. Chrarles Smiddy officiating.  He will be laid to rest at the T. Chitwood Cemetery in Pine Knot.  Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 – 9:00 at the funeral home.
