Leroy McKee

December 11, 1942 — January 15, 2021

Leroy McKee age 78 years, 1 month, and 4 days of Stearns, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, January 15, 2021 at his home.

He was born in Beulah Heights Kentucky on December 11, 1942 to the late Steve Jr. McKee and Pauline (Lynch) McKee.

Leroy was a United States Air Force Veteran, having served his country in the Vietnam War. After his service in the US. Air Force, he returned home and worked 32 years for the United States Forest Service at the Pine Knot Job Corps. Leroy also was a businessman in McCreary County; he once owned a cabinet shop In Whitley City and McKee Country Kitchen in Revelo. Leroy also had numerous retinal properties.

Brother Leroy was a member of Walkers Chapel Baptist Church where he and his wife, Della and son Brian, attended regularly. Leroy also served his duty in many organizations in the county. He was a past Commander of the American Legion Post #115 in Stearns Kentucky, a member of the OLEKA Shriners, and belonged to the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #903, being a thirty-five-year member of the Masonic Order.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Larry and Eddie.

Survivors include his loving spouse of 49 years, Della Mae (Perry) McKee of Stearns; daughters, Sherry Sims (Justin) of Marshes Siding, Kentucky and Kathy King (Othel) of Stearns; a son, Brian McKee also of Stearns; a sister, Diane Stephens of Beulah Heights; sisters-in-Law Carolyn McKee of Corbin, Kentucky and Joan McKee of Pine Knot, Kentucky;

Also surviving are grandchildren, Ashley Corder Bruce (Josh), Allison Corder Hamlin (Craig), Christopher King (Kellie), Cody King (Yasmine), Spencer and Connor Sims; and Great-Grandchildren, Kallen and Avery Bruce, Makeena and Miles Hamlin, Waylon Heath, Ivan Vanover, Easton and Rylee King. 

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Jack Fletcher and Bro. Daren Kidd officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation after 12:00 noon until Masonic services at 1:30 pm on Monday.

Leroy will be entombed in his mausoleum at the Pine Knot Cemetery with full Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 115.  

Serving as pallbearers were Damon Stevens, James Taylor, Terry McKee, Ronnie Meadows, Ivan Vanover, Spencer Sims, and Connor Sims.
