LAWRENCE EDWARD CARTER

November 8, 1936 — November 25, 2009

Mr. Lawrence Carter, age 73 years and 15 days of Strunk, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord on November 25th 2009 at the St. Mary's Scott County Hospital in Oneida, Tennessee.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 29, 2009 in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Harold Rollins and Anthony Watters officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening after 6:00 at the funeral home.

Lawrence was born on November 8, 1936, in Strunk, Kentucky, to the late John and Etta Spradlin Carter.

On August 8, 1956, he was married to his precious wife Letha (Strunk) Carter. To this blessed union was given two children; a son Bruce and his wife Tammy of Corbin, Kentucky, and a daughter MaryRose and husband Terry Crabtree of Strunk, Kentucky. Lawrence was blessed with four grandchildren, Danyel; and husband James Kiser of Marshes Siding, Kentucky, Andy and wife Christy Carter of Strunk, Kentucky, Autumn and husband Anthony Watters of Somerset, Kentucky, and Jessica Crabtree of Strunk. There are six great grandchildren, Cyndol and Celya Kiser, Andriana and Madilyn Carter, and Abigail and Zachariah Watters. He is also survived by a sister Sybil Gilkison of Milford, Ohio, a brother John Carter, Jr., and wife June of Oneida, Tennessee and a host of extended family and friends.

Lawrence is preceeded in death by his parents John and Etta Carter, two brothers Robert and Howard Carter, three sisters Irene Meadors, Edith Mann, and Leona Jones, and daughter-in-law Penny Carter.

Lawrence was a retired coal miner having worked for Stearns Coal and Lumber Company and was a deacon at the Silerville United Baptist Church. He enjoyed traveling with his precious wife Letha. They enjoyed camping, fishing, and bluegrass music, but what brought him the most joy was being with Letha and their family. Lawrence said his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren made him feel like a millionaire.
