JOHNIE O. PIERCE

Mr. Johnie O. Pierce, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at the lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset. Kentucky. He was 67 years old.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 a€" 9:00 at the funeral home.

Born on May 29, 1940 at Rosstown, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jesse Oliver "J.O." and Nellie Hamby Pierce. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Jesse Willard Pierce, an infant brother Glen Edward, two sisters-in-law Willa and Mary Faye Pierce, and a brother-in-law, Lee Ison.

Surviving family include his children Randy Pierce and Sonya Brown both of Plant City, Florida, two brothers Warren Pierce and Robert (and Sue) Pierce all of Pine Knot, three sisters Ona Ison of Columbus, Georgia, Margaret (and Herb) King of Orange City, Florida, and Wilma (and Jimmy) Moses of Huber Heights, Ohio.

Johnie had two grandchildren Madison Brown and Gabriella Pierce. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, one in particular was very special to him, Jennifer "J.J." Barnett, and many other friends.

Johnie had been a meter tester for Indianapolis Power and Light Company, was a member of the Mars Hill Baptist Church in Indianapolis and was a member of the Kenne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. He served three years in the United States Air Force.
