JOAN FOSTER CAMPBELL

Mrs. Joan Campbell, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, 2006, at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Tim Morris officiating. Musical selections were sang by Pheobia Bowman. She was laid to rest in the Pine Knot Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Saturday with pallbearers being Jerry Stephens, Steve Owens, Allen Meadows, Charles Garrett, Bruce Trammell, Bubba Shaw, Dustin Cordell, and Colby Campbell.

Mrs. Campbell was born at Stearns, Kentucky, on November 2, 1933, to the late Robert L. and Flora Lovett Foster. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Drexal Campbell who passed from this life on February 9, 2002, and a brother Eugene Foster. Joan was the beloved mother and mother-in-law of her children Larry and Debbie Campbell and Kandi and Tony Cordell of Pine Knot. She was a loving grandmother to four grandchildren, Nikki (and Jimmy) Cox, Amity West, Dustin Cordell and Colby Campbell. She has five great granddaughters, Jamee and Gracie Cox, Kemily West and Tasha and Courtney Cox. She has also has a brother Robert Foster, Jr. of Springdale, Ohio, many special friends including Gloria Carter, Loma Denny, Helen Winchester and Jo Kidd.

Drex and Joan were married on February 11, 1961, and made home on East Highway 92 in Pine Knot. They operated their business D. H. Campbell, Inc. along with several real estate ventures. She was a former dental hygienist for Dr. Frank Thomas. She was a member of the Stearns First Baptist Church and was on the board of Highland Telephone Co-operative. She enjoyed working in her yard, and her flower gardens, shopping and taking care of her pet, Miss Daisy.
