JIMMY R WHALEN

November 26, 1936 — December 24, 2011

Mr. jimmy R. Whalen, age 75, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the Somerwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Somerset, Kentucky.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 27 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Crabtree and Bro. David Burton officiating. Burial took place at the Holloway Cemetery.

Jimmy had worked as a truck driver hauling cars. He served in the United States Marines as well as the Army for a total of 12 years. He was a member of the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and going on outings such as camping.

He was born in Whitley City on November 26, 1936, to the late Corbett and Dorothy (Neal) Whalen Stephens. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers Finley, Donald and Billy Ray Whalen. Surviving family include his wife Joyce Taylor Whalen whom he married September 1, 1973, his children Angela Whalen, Norman Walker and Regina Walker, grandchildren Quinten Whalen, Amber Whalen, Alexandria Chitwood, Shyann Worley and Riley Ann Worley, his step-father Bill J. Stephens, brothers Earl Dean Whalen of Inkster, Michigan, Jack Stephens (Betty), Whitley City, and sisters Jean Jeffers (Troy) Oneida, Alene Trammell (Roy) Strunk, and Alma Koger (Carl) Whitley City. There are several special nieces and nephews and other friends and family who will truly miss him.
