Jimmy "Jim" Crabtree

Jimmy "Jim" Crabtree age 74 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Monday, September 23, 2024 at his home.

He was born on November 7, 1949 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Chester Crabtree and Shirley Ethel (Taylor) Crabtree. In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by a brother, David Crabtree and a sister, Elizabeth "Beth" Moore. 

Surviving family include his wife, Judy (Stephens) Crabtree whom he married, May 19, 1973; a son, Brian Crabtree (and Lisa) of Pine Knot; a daughter, Jamie Alison Crabtree of Gaithersburg, Maryland; grandchildren, Collin and Allie Crabtree; and special grandchildren, Devin and Caitlynn Strunk, whom he loved as his own. 

Also surviving are his brothers, Alan Crabtree (and Kathy), Chris Crabtree (and LaRhonda), and Randy Crabtree (and Lanetta); sisters, Donna Woodford, Cathy Kelley (and Steve), Teresa Ball (and Larry), Tonya Crabtree (and Curtis), and Vickie Campbell (and Clinton); many nieces, nephews; and Jim's Church family that was very dear to him. 

Jim was a Deacon of Freewill United Baptist Church for the last 10 years, having been ordained at First Hickory Grove where he was also a member for several years. He had worked as an equipment operator for the strip mines in his younger years and later retiring as a truck driver, hauling cars. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, camping and fishing. He also enjoyed attending car shows and restoring cars with his grandson. Jim will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Boyd Rowe and Bro. Willis Troxell officiating. Burial to follow in the Crabtree Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the funeral home.
