Mr. James Morris Ostendorf, age 75, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 23, 2011, at his home.
Memorial services are scheduled for Thursday, January 27, 2011, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or the Make A Wish Foundation.
Born September 23, 1935, in Covington, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Joseph Francis Ostendorf and Gertrude Lamb Sweatnam. He is also preceded in death by a son Micheal Ostendorf, a brother Joseph Ostendorf and sister Geanne Nardmark. Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Shelby Smith Ostendorf of Pine Knot whom he married August 15, 1978, a daughter Amy Lynn Ostendorf of Independence, Kentucky, a son Brian Crum of Marshfield, Missouri, and two grandchildren Micheal Ostendorf and Logan Matthew Crum and great grand daughter Callie Ostendorf. In addition there a many neices, nephews as well as brothers and sisters in law.
Mr. Ostendorf was a manager with TWA Airlines in St. Louis, Missouri where he worked for 37 years. He last worked for Murray Guard Security Company where he won the national Employee of the Year award. He played semi-pro football and played basketball on church leagues. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed community service as a volunteer in school booster clubs. He was a mason and a member of the Latonia Baptist Church in Latonia, Kentucky. He was a member of the Lions Club and coached Little League Teams through the Lions Club.
