Mr. James E. Maxwell, age 62 of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 7, 2011 at Hospice Care Plus Compassionate Care Center in Richmond, Kentucky. Funeral services will be Friday at 1pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie King, Lenville Maxwell and Pat Fortner officiating. Burial will follow in McCreary Memorial Gardens with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6-9pm at the funeral home and expressions of sympathy are suggested as contributions to Hospice Care Plus, Richmond, KY.
Born March 4, 1949, he was the son of the late Marvin Maxwell and Lora Jones Maxwell. Besides his father, he has a daughter that is deceased Susan Michelle Maxwell, three brothers, Harold, Bill and Boice Dean Maxwell and a sister Jennifer Maxwell. Surviving family include his wife Vivian Swain Maxwell whom he married June 7, 1975, two daughters Sarah Sammons (and Brent) of Richmond, Kentucky and Amanda Maxwell of Stearns, his mother Lora Jones Maxwell of Beulah Heights, two brothers Leonard Maxwell of Elkhart, Indiana, and Lenville Maxwell of Marshes Siding, three sisters Irene Strunk and Donna Maxwell both of Beulah Heights and Jackie Strunk of Stearns. Jim had one grandchild, Benjamin Sammons, who was the apple of his eye. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends and other relatives who will greatly miss him.
Jim had been an assembly worker for Elk Vans. He was a sergeant in the United States Army during Vietnam, was a member of the Kinne Slave Post #115 of the American Legion and a member of the Flat Rock Baptist Church.
