James "JD" Dewey Witt

James “JD” Dewey Witt, age 86 years, 10 months, and 14 days, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 in Miami, Florida.

JD was born in McCreary County, Kentucky on January 6, 1934 to the late Dewey Witt and the late Jane (Ashton) Witt.

JD was a graduate of the McCreary County High School. He continued his education at Eastern Kentucky University and obtained his Master’s Degree in Education. He was a teacher for 30 years at the Miami Springs Senior High School. During his teaching career he specialized in woodshop and he was the head of the Industrial Arts department.

JD was the widower of Betty (Lovett) Witt, whose ashes will be placed with him and they will be laid to rest near the Pleasant Run Baptist Church where he attended. He loved to spend time outdoors, whether it was hunting and fishing, or spending time on the farm.

JD is survived by: two sons, Rusty Witt, Allen Witt (Diane); and one granddaughter, Cristy Witt.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 11:00 am with Bro. Dennis Bryant officiating.  JD will be laid to rest in the Pleasant Run Cemetery.
