JAMES MICHAEL BYRD

James Michael "Mike" Byrd, age 63, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed from this life on Sunday, January 6, 2013, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center in Lexington.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013,at 12 noon in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Bell and Bro. John Gregory officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Cedar Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mike had last worked at Senture Connect in Wayne County. He had worked in construction all his life and could make anything. He enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and spending time with his precious grandchildren Caleb and Hallie Spradlin. He was a member of the Cedar Grove Baptist Church and was an avid Kentucky basketball fan.

Born September 7, 1949, in London, Kentucky, he is the son of the late Herbert and Lucy (Fields) Byrd and Herstine Sergent. Surviving family include his wife Linda Jones Byrd whom he married September 30, 1995, his children Heather Gard of Indiana, Jessica (and Tony) Spradlin of Whitley City, Rick and Adam Swiger of Stearns. His brothers are Ron, Victor, and Wayne Byrd of Ohio and John, J.C. and Rick Sergent all of London and his sister is Phyllis Covey of Colorado.
