Imogene Azel Taylor, age 89, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, August1, 2015, at the Williamsburg Health and Rehabilitation Center in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
Born in McCreary County, Kentucky, on July 21, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Ida (Baird) Lay. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Esbon Taylor, her step-mother Amanda Myers Lay, three great-grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Rigney, Jonathan and Joseph Mayes, her son-in-law Arnold Mayes, her brother Boice and wife Gladys and brother-in-law George Moore.
Surviving family include her son Stanley Taylor (wife Sue) of Strunk, Kentucky, daughters Jill Carman (husband Wayne) of Strunk, Donna Mays Hill (husband Donnie) of Kingston, Tennessee, Pamela Taylor of LaFollette, Tennessee, sister Lillian Moore of Pine Knot, brothers: J.D. Lay (wife Cathy) of Somerset, Kentucky, Orville Lay (wife Dorothy) of Pine Knot, Jackie Lay (wife Susan) of Pine Knot. She had ten grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.
Imogene worked as a dietitian for the Jellico Community Hospital in Jellico, Tennessee. She was of the Church of God faith and a member of the Eastern Star, Jellico Chapter.
Funeral services: Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Temple Church of God in Pine Knot, with Rev. Randy Bargo and Rev. Harold Long officiating.
Interment at the Hayes Creek Cemetery
Visitation: Tuesday from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at the church
