Mr. Hurstle Long, of Groveport, Ohio, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 6, 2009. He was 84 years old.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Daniel Ridener officiating. Burial will be in the Pine Knot Cemetery in Pine Knot, Kentucky. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 a" 9:00 at the funeral home.
Mr. Long was a decorated veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He was a member of Southwest Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. He was a member of the Groveport Masonic Lodge, F & AM and Aladdin Shrine.
He was born May 18, 1925, in Rock Creek, Kentucky, the son of the late Lewis and Effie (Neal) Long. Also preceding him in death are four brothers A.Z., Lincoln, John, and Hanson Long and a sister Myrtle Barch. Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years, Imogene (Meadows) Long; two daughters, Tammy (and David) Patton and Tonda Adams; and two sons, Anthony Long and Thomas (and Kriss) Long. There are seven grandchildren Tasha (and Mikke) Hyler, Butch Adams, Ashely, Kyle, Emily, Colleen, and Colin Long, and two great grandchildren Michael and Matthew Hyler.
Surviving sisters are Carrie McElhatton, Dorothy Young, Thelma Kemp, and numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family suggests contributions made in memory of Hurstle directed to either The Shriner Hospital for Children, or the Southwest Feewill Baptist Church.
