Howard Hamlin, age 79, passed away at his home in Pine Knot, Kentucky, on Friday, January 4, 2019,
He was born in the Bethel Community in Pine Knot on September 1, 1939, the son of the late John Frank and Etta (Jones) Hamlin. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Joyce King Hamlin whom he married October 15, 1960, four brothers: Leonard Hamlin, Willard Hamlin, Clifford Hamlin, and Delmar Hamlin, four sisters:
Amy Hamlin, Alma Taylor, Velva Stanford and Lola Beville.
He is survived by three daughters: Milisa Hamlin of Louisville, Kentucky, Rita Jones (and Joe Keith) of Williamsburg, Kentucky, and Jennifer Hamlin of Pine Knot, a brother, Maynard (and Ann) Hamlin of Ohio, a sister, Myrtle Green also of Ohio. He was blessed with eight grandchildren: Sunshine (and John) Canada, Jamie (and Jesus) Cabrera, Jeremey (and Danielle) Stephens, Randall Sampson, Tim (and Kathy) Wilson, Tiffany Hamlin (and Jamie Todd), Dustin (and Amber) Hamlin and Martiuka (and Matthew) Crabtree. There are 21 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special friend, Martha Meadows.
Howard had been a coal mine worker and a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #903. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling and playing cards. Mostly he loved and enjoyed his family.
Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019, in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Marty Douglas officiating and Dustin Hamlin giving the eulogy, Martha Meadows will be doing a reading and Amber Hamlin, Israel Clark and Cody Canada will be singing. A Masonic service will be held at 7:45 p.m. Burial will be at the Bethel Cemetery on Tuesday at 12:00 noon. Visitation will be Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
