HERMAN GENE ROBERTS

Herman Gene Roberts, age 74, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 22, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. William Kilby officiating. Special music will be provided by Judy Redden and the Neal Family. Burial will be at the Pine Knot Cemetery with military honors by the U.S. Army. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.

Herman was born in Strunk, Kentucky, on July 31, 1939, to the late Lewis and Geneva (Spradlin) Roberts. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother Thurman Roberts, a sister Frances West and a grandson Nicholas Roberts.

Surviving family include his wife of 50 years Shirley (Johnson) Roberts of Elizabethtown. They were married November 16, 1963. Herman and Shirley had two sons; Kerry (and LeAnn) Roberts of Elizabethtown and Terry (and Annette) Roberts of Radcliff, Kentucky, and a sister Reva (and Ronald) Ball of Strunk, Kentucky.

His four surviving grandchildren are Amber Marie Roe, Devin Nichole Roberts, Jessie James Roberts and Courtney Hope Roberts.

Herman was retired from the United States Army. He was a self-employed auto body painter and had worked at South Kentucky Mack Trucks for 10 years.
