Mr. Herbert Arthur King, age 77 of Pine Knot passed away on Wednesday October 20, 2010.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday October 23, 2010 at 5pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. David West officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday after 2pm until time for funeral services at the funeral home.
Herb was born in Strunk, Kentucky on January 17, 1933, son of the late Tun and Nannie Bell Daugherty King.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Pierce King who he married on July 10, 1956.
Herb and Margaret have 3 children, Alan King and his wife Tina of Seminole, Florida, Jeffrey King and his wife Pam of Seminole, Florida, and Wilma Moses and her husband James of Huber Hgts, Ohio. There are 2 sisters surviving, Thelma Dye of Florida and Betty West and her husband James of Pine Knot. There are 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren also surviving.
Preceding him in death are 3 brothers, Robert, Thelbert and Theodore King and a sister, Bessie Jean Floyd.
Herb was a Commercial Meter Repairman for Indianapolis Power and Light. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Lifetime member of the VFW, a member of the Moose Lodge and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a member of the Plymouth Ave Christian Church in Deland, Florida.
Pine Knot Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mr. Herb King in his funeral arrangements.
