Helen Ruth Ball

Helen Ruth Ball age 92 of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at her home.

She was born February 19, 1931 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to the late Porter Stephens and Maudie (Gilreath) Stephens. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, James Dillard Ball; an infant son; a son, Roger Kyle Ball and wife, Nona; daughters, Wilma Neal and Patricia Diane Stephens and husband, Larry; a brother, Ray Merrell Stephens; and sisters, Edna Vanover, Pernie Ross, Shirley Hicks, Joyce Napier, and Lois Dunnigan.

Surviving family include her grandchildren, Sherri Lynn King (and Luke), Darren Ball (and Debbie), Chrissy Chitwood (and Johnathon), Eric Morrow (and Tammy), Jennifer Kidd (and Chad), and James Stephens (and Becky); great-grandchildren, Taylor Morrow (and Tanner), Dillian Morrow, Kemen Brown (and Brittany), Colby King (and Sarah), Caitlyn Phillips (and Thomas), Chaslin Cordell (and Vince), Charity Clark (and Gary), Chad Lee Kidd, Christin Kidd, Chelsea Stephens, Lauren Stephens, Kyle Ball (and Megan), Kelsie Ball (and Kyle), Andrew King (and Chelsea), and Eric King; several great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews that she loved so dearly.

Ruth was a member of the East Pine Knot Tabernacle Church. She enjoyed gardening, working with her flowers, and crocheting. She also loved her collectible roosters, going to yard sales, and Walmart. Ruth had worked as a seamstress in the factory but was a caretaker at heart. She loved to care for her family and her dolls.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Braxton King officiating. Burial will follow in the King-Gilreath Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday after 12:00 noon until service time.
