HAZEL LAY

Mrs. Hazel Lay, of Pine Knot, passed away Monday, February 25, 2013, at the McCreary Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 84 years old.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 28 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Seabolt and Bro. Dillard Bryant officiating. Burial will be in the Upper Cal Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 6-9pm at the funeral home.

Born June 5, 1928, in Winfield, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late James and Julie (Angel) Roberts. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by a son; Junior Lay and all her brothers and sisters; Christine Wood, Della May Spradlin, Henry Roberts, Ed Roberts, Louis Roberts, Junior Roberts, and Ernest Roberts.

Surviving family include a son James (and Willa Faye) Lay of Pine Knot, six grandchildren; Danny, Kevin, James Michael, Christopher, Lenville, and Rebecca and 13 great grandchildren. Her special friends were Beverly Wilson, Jeanette Musgrove, Margaret Herman and sister-in-law Irene Roberts, and brother-in-law Larry Wood.

Hazel was a homemaker and member of the Pine Knot United Baptist Church. She enjoyed going to church and traveling in general. She loved her family and loved everyone.
