Mr. Guy P. Blevins, age 66, of Strunk, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with honors by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard. Visitation will be Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be Tuesday, April 24 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pleasant Run Cemetery with honors by the Army National Guard.
Lieutenant Blevins was a retired state trooper having worked with the Kentucky State Police for 25 years. He retired from the United States Army Reserve, St. Louis, Missouri, in November, 1997. He went on to be appointed a special law enforcement officer for the KSP Facilities Security Section in Frankfort, having served there for 10 a" 12 years and receiving several awards and recognitions. He officially retired from the United States Army on April 22, 2005 as Staff Sergeant. He was a member of the American Legion Post 200 in Louisville. He was also proud to be a Kentucky Colonel. Born April 22, 1945, he was the son of the late Sherman and Myrtie (Frogge) Blevins. Surviving family include his wife Donna Wilson (Lovitt) Blevins, Strunk; a daughter Laura (Basil) Fugate, Frenchburg, Kentucky; sons Jonathan (Leora) Blevins, Frankfort, Kentucky and Travis (Ashley) Blevins, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky; mother of his children Annetta Blevins, Frenchburg, grandchildren Jarrod Fugate, Dylan Ruble, Noah and Connor Blevins; sisters Sue Blevins, Stearns, Kentucky, Jenny Ball, Pine Knot, Kentucky; nephews Bobby Blevins and Daniel Ball; nieces Gena Ball and great nieces and nephews. There is also a special daughter Norma Wilson; sister-in-law Verna Crabtree (whom he considered his sister), special nephew Jess Crabtree and grandchildren: Elisha Maxwell, Ashley Jones and Joshua Wilson.
