Clyde Glenn Griffith, age 76 of Pine Knot, passed away Wednesday, August 07, 2013, at the Leestown VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. Harold Sexton officiating. He will be laid to rest at the Pine Knot Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be bestowed by the Kinne Slaven Post 115 of the American Legion. The family will receive friends Saturday from 12:00 noon until time for services.
Born February 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Les and Mae (Sloan) Griffith. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers; Dennis and Ken Griffith. Surviving family include his wife Linda (Mounce) Griffith whom he married October 30, 1987, a daughter Karen Woodard (and David) of Glenmary, TN, three sons; Kevin Griffith of New York, Albert and Glenn Griffith, and three step-sons; Roger Daugherty (and Patti), Tim Daugherty (and Hope), and Monte Daugherty (and Christy). He has a brother, Doug Griffith (and Phyllis) of Glenmary, and sisters: Georgia Madigan, of Glenmary, Sue Stovall, Glenmary, Genelle Marshall (and Butch), Maryland, Derita Gunter (and Buck), Helenwood, TN, Jenny Robertson (and Jerry), TX, Sherry Stanley (and Roy) Huntsvlle, TN, and half-sisters Iduma Huckleby of Scott County, TN and Sherry Deuel of Utah. He leaves behind a special grandson Matt Edwards as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
Glenn was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed the many car shows he participated in and collecting die cast cars and trucks. He loved horseback riding and horse shows, farming and four-wheeling. He liked his traveling camping trips and spending a day at the lake on the pontoon. He was an outdoor enthusiast who took pleasure in farming and playing with his dogs.
