GEORGENE FRALEY FRALEY

Ms. Georgene Fraley, age 66, of Pine Knot, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2007, at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Sunday August 26, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Knot Cemetery with Greg Burdine officiating. Visitation will be Saturday evening from 6 a€" 9 p.m. at Pine Knot Funeral Home. She was born in Paintsville, Kentucky, on June 14, 1941, the daughter of the late John "Jack" and Elva Happenny.

Ms. Fraley was a retired nursing home administrator, having worked in nursing homes all her adult life. She came to McCreary County in 1989 to open and manage the McCreary Health & Rehabilitation Center in Pine Knot. She had previously worked at Redbanks Nursing Home for 15 years. She learned to love McCreary County and decided to make it home for her family.

She received the outstanding nursing home administration award in 1971, and again in 2004, just before her retirement.. Ms. Fraley was known for her outstanding leadership skills, her unselfish service and dedication to the families she served.

Surviving family include a daughter, Donna Jo Newman and granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Newman both of Pine Knot, a brother Paul Bryan Happenny of Henderson, Kentucky, and a sister Jackalene Happenny, of Kingsport, Tennessee. Mrs. Fraley leaves behind many cherished friends and co-workers she thought highly of including Donna Flick, Lynn Hinkle, and Brenda Butler.
