GEORGE MARVIN CLAXTON

George Marvin Claxton, age 56, passed away Friday, April 10, 2009, at his home in Pine Knot.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Pine Knot Funeral Home with Rev. David Troxell and Rev. Clay Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until funeral time at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Born August 4, 1952, he was the son of the late Winfred and Sally Elva Myers Claxton. Also preceding him in death is a brother Frankie D. Claxton and two sisters Bonnie Braden and Mary Ellen Martin.

Mr. Claxton was a trainer for The Adanta Group, a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Hilltop Baptist Church.

Surviving family include a daughter Tami Claxton of Pine Knot, a brother Morris Prewitt of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, three sisters Thelma Coomer of Corbin, Kentucky, Wilma Baird of Pine Knot, and Trecia (and Bill) Richmond of Pine Knot. He had two grandchildren Gary Marvin Claxton and Jacob Perry and a long time friend Elmer "Doc" Lawson.
